Barnsley is a vibrant town which has recently undergone a £250 million transformation with the recent Glass Works project. The Glass Works is a £200m town centre development project to create a modern, vibrant town centre with a diverse retail and leisure experience whilst preserving the town’s traditions and heritage, including the historic Barnsley Markets which are one of the oldest in Britain, dating from 1249. Cineworld occupy a 13-screen cinema, there are dozens of shops, restaurants and bars.

Barnsley has a wide selection of properties to purchase, ranging from period properties in the Old Town are, to new build developments in Mapplewell, Royston, Darton and Cudworth. The town has a great selection of terrace and semi detached properties which appeal to landlord investors. Some of the most popular locations for these properties include the town centre, Birdwell, Gawber, Higham, Hoyland, Worsbrough, Pogmoor and Wombwell. If you are looking for a property in semi rural areas, many buyers are drawn to villages including Cawthorne, Hoylandswaine, Silkstone, Silkstone Common and Staincross.

Barnsley has excellent commuter links with the M1 motorway which provides access to nearby cities including Sheffield and Leeds. The town has a train and bus Interchange which offers excellent links around the Town and surrounding villages.

The town has a professional football club Barnsley F.C. who play their home games at Oakwell Stadium is situated in Oakwell, just outside of the town centre.

Barnsley has a wide selection of popular restaurants in the town centre and in the surrounding areas. Both the Spencer Arms and Beatson House are popular venues in the village of Cawthorne, whilst many enjoy a trip to the Strafford Arms in Stainborough or the Wagon and Horses in Oxspring.
